Students and teachers from 15 schools participated in the event.

World Wetland Day is celebrated annually on February 2nd to raise awareness about the critical role wetlands play in our lives and the planet’s health. It also marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands, an international treaty signed in 1971 in Ramsar, Iran, dedicated to the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

On February 2nd, 2024, the Kanniyakumari Nature Foundation (KNF), along with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Forest Department of Tamil Nadu, organized an awareness program for 75 government school children in celebration of World Wetland Day. The program aimed to educate the children about the importance of wetlands and to inspire them to become stewards of the environment.
