lovers in Nagercoil to safeguard the rich ecological heritage of the world.

• Close working relationships with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department , local institutions, Colleges, Schools and other organisations like WWF India etc.

About the founders

Kanniyakumari Nature Foundation (KNF) was founded by Mr. Vinod Sadhasivan and Paulmathi Sekar Ramasubramanian, who are passionate about wildlife conservation, biodiversity documentation, environmental education, and citizen science. As avid birders and butterfly watchers, they have spent several years documenting the biodiversity of southern India through field surveys, research, and public engagement.

Mr. Vinod Sadhasivan work focuses on biodiversity assessments, wildlife surveys, habitat restoration, and species documentation. He has authored and co-authored research papers on birds, butterflies, dragonflies, spiders, and other taxa, and has been involved in projects related to sea turtle conservation, invasive species management, and biodiversity monitoring.

Paulmathi Sekar Ramasubramanian specializes in plant diversity and biodiversity documentation. She is an iNaturalist Ambassador and has contributed nearly 20,000 observations representing approximately 4,000 species on the platform. She coordinates conservation programs and conducts wildlife awareness programs covering biodiversity, ecology, and citizen science. Her interests include plant identification, environmental communication, and promoting public participation in biodiversity documentation. Together, they also create online educational content through Roaming Owls (www.roamingowls.com), where they share articles, field observations, wildlife travel experiences, and natural history from across India.

Volunteer for KNF

In today’s society, we tirelessly grind away, sacrificing our time and energy just to make a living, while relegating volunteer work to the backburner. We funnel our passions into jobs that fill corporate coffers, convinced this is the key to our financial security. This twisted “time for money” trade distorts our values, creating an illusion that paid work is far more critical than the selfless acts that uplift our communities. Employers may dangle the promise of stability, but that so-called safety net vanishes the instant we walk away, leaving us to question the true cost of our misplaced priorities.

However, this isn’t the case with nature. No matter who we are or where we are, the planet sustains us. It provides the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.

But what have we given back to this life-giving system?

Modern living continuously takes from the Earth, giving back nothing more than waste. If you truly love nature, wouldn’t you want to give something in return? That is why we founded the Kanniyakumari Nature Foundation—to give back to the planet that has sustained us for so long. We invite you to join us on this journey.
